Sou’Wester Sportfishing is based in Port Renfrew, BC and your guide has close to 20 years of experience fishing the waters off the coast of Vancouver Island in Sooke, Port Renfrew and Victoria. He’s also provided professional guided fishing in Haida Gwaii, and holds Transport Canada certifications in:
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
- Marine Emergencies
- Marine First Aid
- Restricted Radio Operators License
What we offer
At Sou’Wester Sportfishing, we offer FULL DAY professionally guided fishing charters in Port Renfrew for salmon and halibut and can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests per trip. Your trip includes the use of high end fishing rods and reels, bait, tackle and professional guide services. And at the end of your time with Sou’Wester we will make sure to expertly clean your catch, ensuring you go home with your prize in excellent condition. Further processing (vacuum packing & flash freezing) can be completed in Port Renfrew at an additional cost through local service providers.
History and Background
Formed in 2021, Sou’Wester Sportfishing is lead by Head Guide and Owner Adrian South, a born and raised Newfoundlander. Adrian is a proud Maritimer and our company name pays tribute to the famous Sou’Wester oil skin hat. These waterproof hats once worn by the hard working tough fisherman from the East Coast are a Canadian icon. We pay homage to the long legacy of fishermen on the East Coast of Canada and toast our Maritime roots.
Newfoundlanders are regarded world wide for their big smiles, warm humor and welcoming nature, and we bring it onboard everyday. Here at Sou’Wester Sportfishing we pride ourselves in finding and landing great salmon and halibut for our guests. Our goal is to deliver the best fishing charters in Port Renfrew, while having the most fun. All while keeping you safe and smiling and your lines tight with trophy fish.
