How to get here
Port Renfrew is located at the end of the scenic West Coast Road (Highway 14) on the Southwest coast of Vancouver Island. It’s approximately 110 km (68 miles) from downtown Victoria, and is situated on the inlet of Port San Juan. The town and the surrounding areas of Port San Juan, and the tributaries of the Gordon, and San Juan River estuaries sit on the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Pacheedaht First Nation, or “Children of the Sea Foam”.
Port Renfrew itself has a long history steeped in the industries of logging and fishing, as well as being the gateway to some of the best salmon and halibut fishing in the region. A small but vibrant community, it has pivoted to being a hub for outdoor recreation including hiking, eco-tourism and old growth forest observation. It is most famous as the trail head for both the challenging West Coast Trail, and the more accessible Juan de Fuca Trail.
