With so much wildlife to observe, boredome won’t be an issue as you wait for the fish to bite. Or perhaps whale watching, bird watching or fantastic scenery and photo opportunities are your jam! Port Renfrew and the surrounding area is as wild as it gets and has am abundance of sights and wildlife. Large marine animals such as Stellar Sea Lions, White Sided Proposes, Humpbacks, Grey and Killer Whales are often spotted. Bald Eagles are common with their haunting calls echoing across the water. Sandstone sea caves, migratory ocean birds, secret grottos and breathtaking waterfalls await. At Sou’Wester Sportfishing our goal is to make your trip a memorable one, whether it’ss maximizing your fishing time or taking moments to enjoy the spectacular sights and wildlife amongst the fishing grounds.

Seals

There is a large Stellar Sea Lion rookery located west of Port Renfrew, just off the Carmanah Point lighthouse.

Whales

Humpback and Grey whales are abundant, often spotted feeding both offshore and near the beach. The more illusive Orca’s or Killer Whales appear at times moving along the shorelines.

Bald Eagles

Bald Eagles are abundant in this area, keeping a vigilant watch from craggy tree tops or on rocks near the shoreline.

Landscapes

Sandstone caves, beautiful waterfalls, tall trees and sandy beaches to stroll and beach comb. Visit the famous “Avatar Grove” or say hello to “Lonely Doug” while exploring on land.
