Peak Season

From May to mid-September, Sou’Wester Sportfishing offers professionally guided salmon and halibut fishing charters in the bountiful waters off Port Renfrew. Species targeted while salmon fishing are Chinook or “King” salmon, and the smaller Coho or “Silver” salmon. We also fish for the often sought after Pacific Halibut, and other bottom fish when in season.

Salmon Fishing

Peak times for salmon fishing charters in Port Renfrew vary depending on species. The larger Chinook salmon are most abundant in July and August. The smaller Coho salmon arrive in numbers later in the season during late August and into September. If you are looking for exceptional salmon fishing charters, look no further!

Halibut Fishing

Pacific Halibut can be caught all season long but are most productive in the earlier part of the season. During the months of May and July they are most abundant and more easily caught. Tactics on our fishing charters vary from back trolling to anchoring up as the season progresses depending on tides, wind and weather.
